Most professionals and business owners know that social media is important for their careers and business. Why do so many people overlook one of the largest social media networks for business?
LinkedIn is a huge resource that is often overlooked by companies when trying to market to customers and other businesses. Admittedly LinkedIn is a more valuable asset to a company who focuses on B2B marketing, though according to the 2015 Social Media Marketing Industry Report an astounding 21% of marketers said LinkedIn is the number one platform they use for B2C marketing. Even more impressive is the fact LinkedIn has now surpassed Facebook as the preferred platform with 41% of marketers saying it performs best for their B2B sales. These are huge numbers, especially considering many businesses don’t utilize its potential.

There are hard facts to back up these claims. According to 2012 research from Hubspot, LinkedIn had the highest visitor to lead conversion among all social media platforms. LinkedIn boasts a 2.74% conversion rate compared to Facebook’s 0.77% and Twitter’s 0.69%. Although there almost certainly has been some fluctuation in the percentages since the research was completed, LinkedIn definitely isn’t a platform to ignore.
